Getting the app

What the VoiceCap mobile app is, how to get a build before it reaches the app stores, and how signing in works.

VoiceCap has a mobile app for iOS and Android. It isn't listed in the App Store or on Google Play: there's no store submission set up for it yet. To get a build, ask VoiceCap support at support@voicecap.ai.

The app already points at the same production VoiceCap backend as voicecap.ai, so anything you do in it is real: real transcripts, real minutes counted against your plan, real emails sent to participants.

What it is

The app uses the same account and the same organization as the web app. It isn't a separate sign-up: a meeting you record on your phone shows up on voicecap.ai the same way a meeting recorded through the web app would, and the other way around. Signing in

  1. Open the app and enter the email and password you already use on voicecap.ai.
  2. If you'd rather not type a password on a phone keyboard, tap Forgot instead. VoiceCap emails you a one-time sign-in link; opening it on the same phone signs you in without your password. It doesn't change your password. To actually reset a forgotten one, see Changing your password: that runs on the web, then you sign in here with the new one.

To create an account instead, tap Create account on the sign-in screen. Signing up asks for your name, email and password, then a short setup: a welcome screen, picking the language you usually speak in meetings, and a screen about microphone access. That last screen is informational only: VoiceCap doesn't actually ask iOS or Android for microphone permission until the first time you tap the record button. See Recording on your phone.

Opening a share link on your phone

A VoiceCap share link (voicecap.ai/m/<id>) opens directly in the app if it's installed, instead of in the browser. What happens next depends on whether you're already signed in:

  • Signed in: the link resolves straight to the meeting.
  • Signed out: you see a locked preview of what was shared, with a choice to sign in or create a free viewer account. Whichever you pick, VoiceCap remembers which link you opened and finishes opening it the moment you're signed in, so you don't need to tap the link again.
