When someone leaves
What happens to a person's meetings when they're removed from the organization, and how that differs from deactivating them.
When someone is removed from an organization, every meeting they created, including private ones, moves to the organization Owner. It's the only situation in VoiceCap where a meeting's authorship changes. Any direct shares or group memberships that organization had granted them are revoked at the same time, so they can't keep reaching that organization's meetings through a leftover share.
Deactivating is not the same as removing
Today, Settings > Team lets an Owner or Admin deactivate a member, not remove them outright, and the difference matters:
- A deactivated person can no longer sign in. Every one of their sessions ends immediately.
- Their account and their meetings, private ones included, are left exactly as they were. Ownership does not move to anyone. The Owner and Admins can still find and open their meetings; nobody else's access changes.
Deactivating a member
- Go to Settings > Team and click the pencil icon next to their name.
- Click Deactivate user.
- Confirm in the Deactivate user? dialog.
You can't deactivate yourself, the organization Owner, or the last active Admin. Reactivating someone from the same menu restores their sign-in immediately, with their role and meetings unchanged.
