Changing your password
Change your password from Profile settings, or reset a forgotten one by email.
This only applies if you signed up with email and password. If you've only ever used a magic link to sign in, there's no password to change.
Changing your password while signed in
- Go to Settings > Profile and find the Password card.
- Fill in Current Password, New Password (at least 8 characters), and Confirm New Password.
- Click Change Password.
Resetting a forgotten password
- On the login page, click Forgot password?.
- Enter your email and click Send reset link.
VoiceCap always shows the same "check your email" message here, whether or not that address has an account. This is deliberate: it stops someone from using the form to check who's signed up.
- Open the email and click Reset Password. The link expires in 1 hour and works once.
- Enter and confirm a new password (8 characters minimum) and click Reset password.
Resetting your password signs you out everywhere: every existing session is revoked, and you're sent to the login page to sign back in with the new password.
If the link has expired or already been used, the reset page tells you and offers Request a new link instead of a confusing error.
You can ask for a reset link up to 3 times an hour per email address. Requests beyond that still show the same confirmation message, but no new email goes out until the hour is up.
