MCP server
Connect Claude or ChatGPT to your VoiceCap meeting archive over MCP, read-only and filtered by what you can already see.
VoiceCap is listed in Claude's connector directory and in ChatGPT's plugin directory, so in either
app you add it without pasting anything. Other clients connect to the same remote MCP server at
https://voicecap.ai/api/mcp.
Either way, you can ask questions about your meetings from inside those apps instead of the VoiceCap
dashboard. AI connectors are on for every organization by default; an Owner or Admin can turn
them off for the whole organization at Settings > Integrations, and while they're off, every tool
call fails with "MCP access disabled by your organization admin."
What it is
The server is read-only. It has no tool that creates, edits or deletes anything in VoiceCap. Every result is filtered by the same rule the VoiceCap app itself uses: you see over MCP exactly what you'd see logged in, based on your role, your groups, and any meetings shared with you directly. Nothing more. An empty result means you can't see that meeting, not that it doesn't exist.
If there's no finished meeting you can open in VoiceCap yet, the AI client is told so and can answer from VoiceCap's sample meeting, which is always labeled as a sample. Unless you're a Viewer, it also gets links to connect a calendar, upload a recording or get the phone app. The calendar link is left out if your calendar is already connected. The sample stops appearing once there's a finished meeting you can open.
Recordings are transcribed Lithuanian-first, so a Claude or ChatGPT search that comes back thin is worth retrying with Lithuanian terms as well as English ones.
Connecting from Claude
AI connectors are on by default, so anyone in your organization can connect a client without waiting on an admin. An Owner or Admin can see who's connected, and turn AI connectors off entirely, from Settings > Integrations.
- Open Settings > Connectors in Claude.
- Find VoiceCap in the connector directory.
- Click Connect.
- Claude opens VoiceCap's login page if you're not already signed in, then shows VoiceCap's consent screen.
On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, a workspace admin can add VoiceCap once from the same directory, for the whole workspace. Each member still connects individually the first time they use a VoiceCap tool: Claude sends them to log in to VoiceCap and approve access on VoiceCap's own consent screen. One connector added once, and access still follows each person's own VoiceCap login and permissions.
The consent screen reads "[client name] wants access to your meetings." It states what the client will be able to read (meetings, transcripts, decisions and action items you can see) and what it can't do (change or delete anything, or see meetings you don't already have access to). Click Allow access to finish, or Deny to stop here.
If there's no finished meeting you can open in VoiceCap yet, the consent screen also says, below Allow access and Deny, that connected apps can only read meetings VoiceCap has recorded. It also has links to connect your calendar, upload a recording and get the phone app. Those links open in a new tab and work any time, so you can finish connecting first and add your first meeting afterwards. Which links you see depends on your role and on whether your calendar is already connected.
Connecting from ChatGPT
VoiceCap is listed in ChatGPT's plugin directory.
- Open VoiceCap's listing in ChatGPT, or search the plugin directory for VoiceCap.
- Connect it.
- Sign in to VoiceCap if you're not already signed in, and approve access on VoiceCap's consent screen.
The org-level toggle applies here too: if an Owner or Admin turns AI connectors off, ChatGPT stops on its next tool call the same as Claude.
Outside developer mode, ChatGPT's deep research calls exactly two tools by name, search and
fetch. VoiceCap's server ships that pair, so deep research works against your archive without
switching ChatGPT into developer mode. search takes a query string and returns at most one result
per meeting; fetch takes the id of a result and returns that meeting as a readable document.
Connecting from other clients
Clients that don't have a directory listing take the server URL instead. Add
https://voicecap.ai/api/mcp as a custom connector, and the same OAuth login and consent screen
follow on the first tool call.
What the tools do
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
search_meetings | Searches transcript text, AI summaries, recorded decisions and meeting titles together, and returns ranked moments: a short excerpt, the meeting it came from, the timestamp, and a link that opens the recording at that second. Narrow it by date range, group or participant. It returns up to 50 moments (20 by default) and doesn't page, so it reports when matches were dropped. |
list_meetings | Lists the meetings you can see, newest first, as metadata only: title, date, recording length and a link to the meeting page. No summaries, excerpts or transcript text. Narrow it by date range, group or participant, up to 50 rows a page, and page on through the rest. |
get_meeting | Returns one meeting's summary-level record: title, date, duration, participants, the AI summary, key topics, recorded decisions with who made each one when that's known, action items, and the groups it's shared with that you belong to. No transcript text. A meeting still being processed comes back as a stub with its status. |
get_transcript_section | Returns the words spoken in one window of a meeting, as speaker-attributed segments with timestamps. A window can be at most 15 minutes wide, and each call says where the next one starts, so a client reads a long meeting a window at a time. |
list_decisions | Lists the decisions recorded across your meetings, newest first, each with the decision, who made it when that's known, the context it was made in, the meeting it came from and a link to that moment. Narrow it by text, by who decided (a name or an email), group or date range, up to 50 rows a page. |
list_action_items | Lists action items pulled from meeting summaries, newest meeting first, each with its owner and whether it's done. Narrow it by owner, completion state or date range. Items carry no due date, so "still open" means nobody marked it done, not that it's late. It reads the 200 most recent meetings you can see rather than the whole archive, and says so when older meetings went unread. |
Every result carries a link back to the meeting in VoiceCap. A result tied to a moment, like a search hit or an action item, links straight to that point in the recording instead of only the meeting page.
search_meetings also finds meetings shared with you directly from someone else's organization,
unless you narrow the search to a group. list_meetings, list_decisions and list_action_items
only cover meetings that belong to your own organization, so a meeting shared with you from another
organization won't show up in a list. You can still find it with search_meetings, open it with
get_meeting and read it with get_transcript_section.
Managing access
At Settings > Profile, the "Connected AI clients" card lists every AI client that currently has access to your account, when you approved it and when it last connected. Click Disconnect to cut one off. Access stops immediately: every token it holds is deleted, not merely expired. To use that client again, you reconnect and approve access from scratch.
An Owner or Admin can also disconnect every member's AI clients at once, or turn AI connectors off for the whole organization, from Settings > Integrations. Turning connectors off stops all of them on their next tool call while keeping each member's individual connection in place, so switching back on restores access without anyone reconnecting.
An approval belongs to the organization you gave it in. If you move to a different organization, the clients you approved on VoiceCap's consent screen stop working on their next tool call, because they never had that organization's approval. Reconnect from the client and approve access again, and it starts working against the new organization's meetings.
A client cut off this way stays listed under "Connected AI clients" until it reconnects. The entry is what lets you disconnect it for good, so it is deliberate, not a stale row.
Tool calls are rate-limited per user: 60 per minute, 2,000 per day, counted across every VoiceCap tool.
The MCP server is included on every plan, Free included, and it is not metered separately: tool calls don't consume transcription minutes. See Plans.
