Share links
How the anyone-with-the-link toggle works, why opening one still requires logging in, and how to turn it off or regenerate it.
A share link (/m/<id>) still requires logging in. VoiceCap has no page anywhere that shows a
recording, transcript, or summary to someone who isn't signed in; a link only skips having to be
added by name first.
Turning a link on
- Open the meeting and click the sharing control near the top.
- Turn on Anyone with the link can view.
Turning it on reveals the link and starts a 30-day window before it expires. Click Copy link to copy it, or the regenerate icon next to it to invalidate the old link and mint a new one; only the meeting's author or the organization Owner can regenerate it.
What happens when someone opens it
If they're not signed in, they're sent to log in or sign up first, then brought back to the link automatically. Once they're signed in, VoiceCap records them as having access to that meeting, the same kind of access as a direct share, and takes them straight to the meeting, view-only. Opening the same link again doesn't add a second entry; it's the same access every time.
When a link stops working
A link shows a "Meeting Not Found" page instead of the meeting when the link is invalid or has expired, the meeting's owner made it private, or the meeting has been deleted. VoiceCap shows the same message for all three rather than saying which one it was.
Turning it off
Turn off Anyone with the link can view in the same sharing panel. This immediately revokes access for everyone who joined through that link; it doesn't affect people you shared with directly or through a group.
