Signing in

The ways to sign in to VoiceCap on the web, how Google and Microsoft attach to an existing account, how long you stay signed in, and how to switch accounts.

The login page offers Continue with Google, Continue with Microsoft, and Email me a sign-in link, with Sign in with password below them for accounts that have a password. All of them sign you in to the same account, as long as they use the same email address.

  1. On the login page, type your email address and click Email me a sign-in link.
  2. Open the email and click the link. VoiceCap opens and signs you in.

The link works once and expires 15 minutes after it's sent. Opening it again in the browser it already signed in just takes you into VoiceCap. If it has expired, or was used in another browser, the login page tells you so; send yourself a new one. Signing in this way also confirms your email address.

Signing in with Google or Microsoft

Click Continue with Google or Continue with Microsoft and pick the account. VoiceCap only asks for your name and email address. It doesn't import your profile photo, and signing in doesn't connect your calendar; that's a separate step in Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook.

Each email address has one VoiceCap account. If you already have an account and then click a Google or Microsoft button for the same address, the button attaches to that account, but only when both sides have the address confirmed: the provider vouches for it, and your VoiceCap account has confirmed it. If your VoiceCap address isn't confirmed yet, you're sent back to the login page with a message asking you to sign in another way first. Sign in once with an email link, which confirms the address, and the button works from then on.

A Google or Microsoft account with a different email address from your VoiceCap account creates a separate account rather than attaching to yours.

Personal Microsoft accounts work. A work or school Microsoft account works only when your organization's Microsoft setup confirms its email address. If it doesn't, you see a message asking you to use an email sign-in link instead; that works for any address.

Signing in with a password

Type your email address, click Sign in with password, enter your password and click Sign in. Forgot password? is under the password field, and Email me a link instead switches back to the email link without retyping your address. A password is optional; see Changing your password to add one.

How long you stay signed in

A sign-in lasts 14 days, and each day you use VoiceCap pushes that back, so you stay signed in as long as you keep coming back. After 14 days without a visit you're asked to sign in again. The mobile app works the same way.

Switching accounts

Click Log out in the account menu, then sign in with the other account. If you open a meeting that was shared with a different address than the one you're signed in with, the page tells you which address it was shared with and offers Switch account, which signs you out and brings you back to the same meeting after you sign in again.
