Audit log

Who opened, shared, exported or changed what in your organization over the last 12 months, how to filter it, export it to CSV, and see who opened one of your meetings.

The audit log lists who opened, shared, exported or changed what in your organization. It's on Settings > Audit log, and only the Owner and Admins can see it. Members and Viewers don't get the menu item, and opening the address sends them to their profile.

The audit log is part of the Business plan. On Free and Pro, the Owner and Admins still see Audit log in the menu, marked Business. The page shows what the log does with an example that isn't your team's activity, and Upgrade to Business. VoiceCap records the events on every plan, so after an upgrade the log already holds your organization's recent history.

What the log shows

Each row says who did it (their name and role, with their email in its own column), what they did, and when. Someone who isn't a member of your organization, such as a person who opened a shared link, shows as guest. Changes VoiceCap makes itself, like the number of paid seats following a role change, show as VoiceCap.

The log records:

  • opening a meeting, including through a shared link. An opening through oversight says "through oversight"
  • playing or downloading a meeting's audio or video, and exporting a meeting
  • sharing a meeting with a person, a group, an email address, the whole organization or anyone with the link, and taking that access away again
  • rotating a meeting's public link
  • asking for access to a meeting, and approving or declining a request
  • deleting a meeting, and deleting it permanently
  • turning owner oversight on or off, giving an Admin oversight and removing it, and transferring ownership
  • inviting someone, someone joining, removing someone, someone leaving, and role changes
  • changes to the number of paid seats
  • signing in
  • creating, renaming and deleting groups, adding and removing group members, and changes to a group's attendee rule or company-wide setting
  • exports of the audit log itself

A meeting you can't open yourself shows as "a private meeting", without its title or who it was shared with.

The log is read-only. Nobody, including the Owner, can edit or delete an entry.

Filtering

The filters above the list narrow it down. Every change applies straight away, and the address in your browser keeps the filters, so you can bookmark a view or send it to another admin.

  • Time: Last 7 days, Last 30 days (the default), Last 90 days or Last 12 months.
  • Person: Anyone, or one member of your organization.
  • Action: All actions, or one kind: Access, Share, Export, Group, Team or Sign-in.
  • Target: Any meeting or group, or one group.
  • Access changes only: keeps only the changes to who can see what. That covers sharing and unsharing, public links, owner oversight, oversight for admins, ownership, roles, invites, joins and removals, and group membership, rule and company-wide changes. Opening, downloading and exporting are left out.

The log goes back 12 months.

Exporting to CSV

  1. Set the filters to the events you want.
  2. Click Export CSV.

The file has one line per event that matches the current filters, newest first, with the time in UTC, the person, their email, their role, the action, its kind, and the same description the page shows. One export holds at most the newest 50,000 events. If more match, the file's last line says so, and narrowing the filters gets you the rest. The export itself appears in the log, with how many events it contained.

Who opened a meeting

A meeting you recorded shows Seen by and a count next to the sharing button at the top of its page: how many other people have opened it. You're not counted yourself.

On Business, click it to see up to 10 people who opened it most recently and how long ago, newest first. If you're the Owner or an Admin, See all in the audit log opens the full history for that meeting.

On Free and Pro you see the count, and the names are part of Business. An Owner or Admin can upgrade from there. A Member can ask the admins to upgrade.
